dye love
Scarves have become something I've started collecting over the years and I almost have as many scarves as I do shoes...almost. These hand dyed silk scarves by NYC based designer Shabd would be the perfect compliment to any white t-shirt. Plus, they come in two different sizes!

Man Fashion: Summer Office Styles
Spring is definitely over and summer is where we are now. You want to stay cool at work, and you’re not just thinking temperature. If you’re not working at Microsoft, Google, or any of the big tech companies, chances are you don’t get the luxuries of wearing whatever you want. So how can you stay cool in the hot sun without being in the hot seat? Below are some pointers to get you started, and examples on how to use these guidelines to work for you.
Think about fabric: Pima cotton is breathable, versatile for all season, and has outstanding quality for clothing. Cotton blends, particularly with stretch wool or rayon/viscose, are great during the summer and keep your clothes fitted to your body. Linen is definitely a must-have in summer attire.
Think of colors: Try mixing bolder shades of spring pastel hues to “spring” into summer. Bold and vibrant colors can look cool and still be comfortable, such as various shades of purple, orange, and blues. Earth and neutral tones – like olives, tans, and browns – are definitely a standard and can look professional with minimal effort. Whites and greys are staples and versatile even when paired with bolder colors to accentuate your personal look. Minimize wearing black as much as possible. If you do wear black, get that in breathable fabrics like linen or cotton chinos, or look for it in subtle patterns.
Think of your workplace: Format your attire based on the dynamic of your workplace. Don’t wear sandals or flip flops if your work does not call for it.
Putting It All Together
No matter what fabrics, color and workplace, the most important of summer office wear is able to give you comfort and express individual personal styles.

city on a plate
When it comes to dinnerware sets I've always thought outside of the box. Bright colors, or unique images always tend to catch my eye right away, that's why I got so excited when I saw these city-inspired plates by Notneutral. They showcase twelve different the cities in all their glory with dramatic
black backgrounds. Orange icons represent key buildings, alongside blue rivers and green public spaces. Which city would you pick to have on your plate?

Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2010
The Fall/Winter 2010 ad Campaign for Miu Miu takes a new twist on autumn colors. I love how the models bright colored eye shadows contrast against the pale skin and slicked back hair. Not to mention the lavender, navy and marigold color combination in the clothing -perfect for fall. Which piece in these ads is your favorite?

under the lifeguard tower
Goofing around at the Washington pier after work the other day, decided to take some pictures under the lifeguard tower. Of course being a self-proclaimed coffee addict, I have my Starbucks soy latte in hand. Otis, my Boston Terrier even came along although there was a sign saying "No Do Allow..."

Does Your Eyes & Hair Color Make You Look Stunning?
Beautiful stunning eyes can invite, entice, create, observe, send messages and they can be beautiful to look at, accompanied by the proper makeup and hair color it can illustrate all of these messages to everyone. The proper hair color can make those beautiful eyes sparkle, enhancing the face in a tremendous way.
Blue Eyes:
Blue eyes are described as cool eyes in the color industry. They are gorgeous with or without makeup, but if you do want to enhance their beauty even more...a black eye liner and black or dark brown hair is their best feature. If your hair is a beautiful silver color and if you are over 40, then you are lucky, because your blue eyes are the diamond that makes those silver locks glow. Keep it gray its the best color for you.
Makeup for Blue Eyes.
..use smoky colors, dark eyeliners and use pink lipsticks. False eye lashes is an added feature and don't forget to define the crease above the eye lid with blue, dark gray or dark colored shadows to enhance the color of your eyes.
Brown Eyes:
Your best hair color is chocolate browns, reddish browns & light browns. Highlights in gold, bright or dark reds & chocolate and honey tones go great with brown eye ladies & gents. Caramelized highlights can brighten the eye and it also enhances freckles.
Makeup for brown eyes:
Brown tones around the eyes with green, taupe or chocolate shadows are a great accents to your beautiful brown eyes. Also remember to use chocolate colored false eye lashes and brown mascara.
Green Eyes:
If you have green eyes think always of the Fall season. Those Fall colors look great on you. Hair color...Chocolate browns, light browns, caramelized tones with gold highlights and of course red hair. Green eye people look fabulous with dark red hair.
Makeup for Green Eyes:
Like I said before think of the Fall season. Browns, golds, chocolate, greens, rusty tones and chocolate brown eyeliner with chocolate brown mascara. You will look stunning.
Black Eyes:
Your eyes are mysterious, and extremely enticing. Your best hair color is black and you can enhance it up a notch by highlighting it with wine or mahogany tones. Another color that looks good is deep Dark browns. If you go lighter it should be done as you age. But as you enjoy your youth enjoy also those dark black locks...because they will not look good after 40.
Makeup for Black Eyes:
Silver, black, blue, rose, and grey tones look beautiful with black eyes and if your hair is dark black you will look even better.
Hazel Eyes:
Hazel eyes are sweet, loving and very open for change. Browns, chocolate and black hair color is superb for hazel eyes. Heavy brown & chocolate color or highlighting is magnificent on hazel eyes. This is a show stopper any where you go.
Makeup for Hazel Eyes:
Think always of Fall tones to bring out the color of your eyes. Dark chocolates, light browns, greens, and black will beautify your looks. Use always dark eyeliners and smoke colored shadows under the eyes to bring out the color more. Dark brown or black mascara will make hazel eyes more intense.
Gray Eyes:
Think Spring and go with light hair color tones to accentuate the color of your eyes. To my surprise i colored a grey eyed lady with black hair and she was stunning. I gained her as a client and she stood by me for 28 years.
Gray Eye Makeup:
These eyes look great with smoky tones around the eye lid and dark black mascara. Also Spring colored eye shadows pop out the eye color making them look very attractive.
After 32 years of making people look and feel great, I feel good knowing I put my mark inside the beauty industry. I have always been proud of my work and the joy of seeing my clients happy and gorgeous as they left the salon, kept me thanking God for the talent He blessed me with.
Have a beautiful hair day.

Everyone in LA has been complaining about the gloomy, un-summerlike weather we've been having and today we finally got our heat wave. I headed over to Century City to meet Nikki for some lunch at Coral Tree Cafe and decided it was necessary to break out the shorts. After lunch I checked out the sale going on at Bloomies (where Nikki works). Nothing like a little retail therapy to get the weekend started off right. What are your weekend plans?

Man Fashion: Who is the Most Influential Man in Men Fashion World?
Whether you like this or not, the most influential man in men fashion world is definitely not Barak Obama, not yet. Brad Pitt is out, Mathew Fox is not in this list. So who else is in your mind?
Yes. David Beckham. If you have read any of the recent news. Dolce & Gabbana is in fact think that David Beckham is one of the most influential people in men's fashion.
The Italian designers' menswear range is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary. Neither can believe they have been so successful in the industry, and believe teaming up with the soccer star in the late 90s really boosted their range.
"Before, it (men's fashion) was for social things, for gays, for eccentrics, for weirdos; it was a small market. David was the start, a hot, straight, family man with kids. He was such a big star and he gave the possibility to be fashionable to millions. He made it possible for men to approach fashion without fear. Men felt if he can do it, I can," Stefano Gabbana said.
The duo admits they wouldn't wear all the clothes they create, but say each piece has some of their personality in it. Both Stefano and Domenico Dolce design with their ideal man in mind, explaining they create looks they want to see men experimenting with.
So do you really agree with their statement? Again, we would like to hear from you. :)

Inexpensive Homemade Hair & Face Cleansers & Conditioners
Caring for your hair and skin can eventually drain your pocketbook. I know how this economy can drain your finances and leave you without very much to spend on some luxueries. Having a salon facial can be expensive and that's why I am here today, to teach you how you can make your own face, hair cleansers and conditioners with items you have in your own kitchen.
After years working in the beauty industry, I came to realize that the best hair & skin products are available inside your own kitchen cabinets. By cleansing your hair and skin with fresh fruits, vegetables & herbal plants, you can restore, repair and replenish the luster in your hair you have been lacking of for so long. And the ability to restore that young looking skin you've lost through the years is a great thing. For only pennies you can have celebrity looking hair and skin. These homemade cleansers, masks & conditioners will revitalize your skin & hair to maintain you looking fabulous.
In your kitchen you have an amazing amount of foods that can repair, smoothen, and remove many facial & hair soils and the residue left behind from many hair products.
Store bought cleansers are good for you but they can become very costly through time. A jar of one of the most popular face cleansers can take you back from $75.00 to $150.00 dollars depending on the brand you choose. In most inexpensive department stores face & body cleansers can run from $4.00 to $40.00 dollars. As a society full of people that want to always look good but do not want to spend too much money on hair and skin products as myself, just because it says its good for you. Most of the products used in these store bought hair conditioners, hair repair kits, skin cleansers and moisturizers don't have the amazing amount of pure deep ingredients as an avocado, mayonnaise, cloves or eggs have. They use these same foods in very small amounts...but in your home you can get 100% of these plants, fruits & vegetables to make your skin & hair even better for less than $2.00 dollars..
Lets start with vegetables.
AVOCADOS:
An avocado is full of healthy fats, healthy oils, its one of the best foods the body can consume and one of the best hair and skin repair foods we can use. Its contents can restore the elasticity you have lost in your skin. It brings back the shine while also mending split hair ends.
Use one very ripe avocado, mash it well then add to it 1 whipped egg yolk, 1/8 teaspoon of mayonnaise & 1/8 teaspoon of pure honey. Use it as a great deep penetrating hair repair conditioner. In your hands pour some shampoo then pour on that hand some baking soda, shampoo your hair real good with it. This will remove all the soils left behind from hair products like hair spray. gels and mousses. If your hair still feels gummy repeat the baking soda shampoo once again. Then apply the avocado mixture to your hair, leave it on for 1 hour with a plastic bag on it. Then shampoo again before using an instant conditioner, towel dry your hair then use a good glaze to blow dry and style your hair. Glazes is the best thing to use on your hair. They are very gentle to the hair and a good glaze will not leave a pounding redue that will droop your hair. Your hair should feel soft, it should look shiney and very bouncy. Do this procedure every time your hair feels and looks droopy and dull or once a month.
Use this mixture also on your face, leave it on for about 20 minutes then scrub gently with your fingertips before rinsing with warm water, then use as a moisturizer this mixture..
Mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt...mix well then put it all over your face, leave it on your face for 10 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. Your face should feel fabulous and it should look healthy and rosy. Before bed take a small amount of petroleum jelly and rub it around your eyes and face. Use the petroleum jelly on your knees, elbows and the bottom of your feet to soften those rough spots overnight.
For a mask first put petrolleum jelly around your eyes then whip 1 egg yolk and put it all over your face, wait 30 minutes. By then it should have hardened and then rinse your face with warm water. Your face will feel great.
Here are some household products that can cleanse, restore, repair, and replenish your face and hair bringing it back to life again:
1. Baking soda mixed with shampoo will strip accumulative gels, hair spray & any hair products...it leaves your hair clean and safely ready for hair dyes, perms and conditioners.
2. Avocados... they are full of healthy fats and omega 3 oils to replenish the elasticity and shine lost in dull, dry and lifeless hair and skin.
3. Egg yolks...one of the greatest foods for the hair and skin full of pure cholesterol...the best repair product ever for the skin and hair.
3. Real mayonnaise...made with oils & eggs...a great ingredient in repairing and mending dry, broken, and chemically damaged hair and skin.
4. Honey...a powerful face scrubber and mask full of natural glucose to rejuvenate the skin.
5. Ripe bananas...this fruit is great for the hair & the face. It is a good provider of potassium to restore the dryness in the face and hair.
6. Yogurt...a great cleanser and a refreshing touch to your face after a good scrub or face mask.
7. Dark Black coffee...used as a rinse to enrich dark brown hair color.
8. Cucumbers...This refreshing vegetable reduces any eye and face swelling as it cools your face down after a face scrub and hot towel wraps.
Plants are the best ever to keep you feeling and looking new again.
Chamomile, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger root, and cloves are all fabulous for a beautiful healthy face and hair. Boil these ingredients alone or all together, let it cool down to a warm temperature...soak a face cloth in it, then place this wet warm towel over your face. Let the warmth of the water penetrate your skin, it feels great after washing your face, before putting on a moisturizer.
Then use cold cucumbers to refreshen the skin and eyes.
Petroleum Jelly...this inexpensive item can cost only $1.00 at any dollar store.
This amazing gel can remove makeup easily without pulling the skin and at the same time it will condition and preserve the elasticity of your skin from being damaged while cleaning the face. It also prevents wrinkles and dry skin.
Petroleum jelly can remove face dirt & dry skin residue left behind from makeup, preventing your new makeup from caking after application.
If applied after a good face scrub it becomes the best skin restorer and before bed time it will replenish the skin from dryness as you sleep.
If applied under your feet before putting on your socks, you will always have smooth soft feet.
It prevents athlete's feet odor and it feels wonderful while walking...keeping your feet in a very comfortable feeling through the day.
I hope these great skin and hair tips can help you in looking as beautiful as you feel...until my next post...keep yourself always LOOKING GOOD!....CHOW!!!

Summer Hair Care & Tips
The sun can be good for you. Ten to fifteen minutes of sunshine every day is the greatest medicine in boosting vitamin D levels in your body. But for your hair those Summer rays can be dreadful. They can absorb the natural oils out of your hair and scalp making your hairstyle droopy and lifeless. Through time the sun can make your scalp dry and when you scratch it , it will fall on your clothes like dandruff. The extreme sun rays can destroy the ends of your hair as well as your skin. It will fry your ends severly. Too many hair products can also make your hair droopy and lifeless, because it coats the hair shaft and through time it builds up making the hair dry or mushy.
Here are some tricks to properly and safely clean and care for your hair throughout these Summer months....making it shiny and bouncy again.
1. Hair can become droopy if not properly cared for. In order to bring life back into the hair shampoo your hair once with a lot of baking soda mixed with your shampoo. After sudsing it well make sure the ends get a good scrub with this mixture, then rinse well and repeat again this procedure for the second time. Then shampoo your hair with only shampoo, rinse well then saturate the hair with a good conditonaer...leave your conditioner on for about 5 to 10 minutes or until you are done showering. Then rinse well...towel dry, use a good gel or mousse with a little shine polisher on the ends, style as usual. Your hair should feel and look bouncy and shiny again.
2. If your hair is blonde, highlighted it is important that you wear a swimmong cap when swimming in a pool. The chlorine will turn blonde and highlighted hair green. If this occurs...just shampoo your hair with baking soda and shampoo, then rinse and repeat this procedure again. After rinsing this off ondition your hair with an oil conditioner or a cholesterol pack...this will repair damaged ends moisterizing those dry ends and your scalp.
3. If you color and highlight your hair make sure you conditon it after every shampoo. Use a good brand conditioner and shampoo that is for color treated and highlighted hair. This will preserve your color longer in betweeen salon visits.
4. In between your color appointments you can restore the color of your hair by using a shampoo made strictly for color treated hair. They come in Black, Dark Browns, Red, Blonde, and Mahagony. They can be found in any fine hair salons.
Matrix, Tec, Loreal, Redken and Graham Webb carry these colored shampoos and conditioners.
I hope these tips may help in caring and keeping your hair beautiful...and enjoy the sunshine by using a good sunscreen lotion to keep your skin from burning.
Have a wonderful week...Millie

clog time
I must admit, I was a bit hesitant on the clog trend but then I tried a pair of the suede Steve Madden clogs on (top right) and I loved how they looked on. Not only were they super comfy, but they gave me inches of height and had a cool retro look to them. Do you own clogs?
