Tools of the Trade
Every skilled professional has to have tools they must invest in, in order to complete their job properly. Hair Designers are no exception. Hairdresser spend a fortune trying to keep up with the latest gadgets that make their job easier. Some implements can run into the thousands depending on how much you wish to spend.
Throughout those 34 years behind the chair, I only purchased 3 scissors, 12 blow dryers, 10 irons, 2 razors and 3 thinning shears & 4 texturizing scissors. My tools lasted a long time because I took very good care of them.
1. I never allowed anyone to use my tools.
If you allow others to use your tools especially your scissors, you might is well throw them out. Your scissors conform to your hand mold, when someone else uses them, your scissors loose your hand form and they become trash afterwards.
So "DO NOT LOAN ANYONE" your tools especially your scissors.
2. I cleaned and sterilized them well after every use.
Clean sterile tools prevents problems. They function properly, they prevent diseases and they stay in good working condition for many years to come.
3. Make sure your scissors are always sharp and you have new blades in your razors.
There is nothing worse than dull implements...very unprofessional.
ALSO...
One thing I always invested in was on modern blow dryers & irons. Those tools are necessary and its a great invested.
Good luck Hair Designers...invest well and care for your tools properly.
