Pretty Boy Necklace

Halo Necklace

Spike Ring

Johnny Morte Layers Necklace
How rad is this new collection of jewelry called Sophia Morte?! LA based designer Lilian Emrani draws her inspiration anywhere from art deco architecture to punk rock culture.  My favorite piece is the Pretty Boy necklace in oxidized sterling silver which is cast from an actual human mouth. It's the perfect accessory to take the "tough girl" look to the next level.

je veux tout cela

Isabel Marant is definitely one of my top favorite designers right now! Here are some photos from the Fall 2010 ad campaign featuring Kate Moss.  I am dying for that leather jacket in the first picture, it's just so perfect.

shopping cart chic

Here are some shots of my mom and I on a recent Costco run. Nothing like buying in bulk to inspire a creative blog post....haha. The top 2 pictures are my mama, isn't she cute? I'm wearing my new Elizabeth & James gray maxi dress and a vintage Native American necklace.

dancing couple

After a hard week of work sometimes you just gotta let loose and shake your groove thing.  I don't know this couple, just found these pictures on exPress-o blog, but they sure do look like they are having fun on their wedding day.

Does your Hairdresser or The Salon You Visit Have The Right Crudentials???

As a successful hair designer for 32 years, I know that a hairdresser should not only know her craft well but she should also look the part and walk the walk. The salon in which he or she works in should look updated in decor, hair books should be available there for you to look at, they should provide nice features like coffee or tea for you to enjoy, the receptionist and your hair designer should look and be professional in every way.

There is nothing more wonderful then to walk into a salon that looks clean, very fashionable and the workers in that salon should be professional and respectful by using good ethics and courtesy throughout the time you are there. If the salon you are now going to looks dirty and the hairdressers are having more of a party in the back room instead of attending the phone or your needs, then that salon is not good for you....walk out and go to the one next door.

The first time you enter a salon is like meeting a person for the first time....what you see is what you get.

If the salon or your hairdresser displays any of these signs below, then its time to move to another salon.

1. Did anyone in the salon acknowledge you when you entered, did they greet you and offered you a chair & coffee to make you comfortable while you waited?

2. Were they courteous to let your hairdresser know you had arrived?

3. Were there many people working there or just one?

4. Were the hairdressers clean, well groomed, and their hair well fashionably done?

5. Did your hair dresser decide to work in flip flops instead of good supportive professional shoes?

6. Did she attend you with gum in her mouth?

7. Were her nails chipped, broken or dirty?

8. As you waited did you look at the floor around you...was it dirty, stained, or loosing some tiles or carpeting?

9. Did your hairdresser use a comb she had on top of her working station instead of a clean closed container?

10. Do you get a good consultation about what you would like to have done on your hair?

11. Did you get a good firm shampooing (Twice not once) before he or she began to work on your hair?

12. Was her working station cleaned well from the previous client like their color tray, dirty combs & brushes, dirty towels and was their station well equipped with nice irons, blow dryer and several scissors to provide you with a nice cut?

13. Were there cob webs around the walls?

14. Do they have a receptionist?

15. Do the hair dressers yell across the room instead of using professional tactics by relaying their message quietly?

16. Does your hairdresser criticize others while you are there, instead of devoting her time to you by building strong bonds of respect with you?

17. Does your hairdresser have bad body or mouth odor?

18. Does your hairdresser smoke while you are sitting in her styling chair?

If you have answered 2 or more of these questions then you are in for a disastrous mess. Don't settle for second best...look for a salon that practice professional ethics, great manners, fabulous hair products, a clean and courteous atmosphere for you to enjoy, a respectful drive in keeping their clients happy and an outstanding ability to perform their best in every way.

Your money will be worth spending in a salon that is very professional no matter the cost.

Man Fashion: Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Round Up

What else can all of us be excited about in this summer but the Paris Fashion Week? With the long line of models and enthusiasts, the Paris Fashion Week – Spring/Summer 2011 Collection has caught my eyes and those of many others looking for a different take on things. Let walk through our favorite men fashion designers in this Paris Fashion Week.

 Yohji Yamamoto - Y3

Another collection which has caught my attention is that of Yohji Yamamoto’s. Straight cut suits from intricate floral prints may not be so much of a breakthrough for Spring/Summer collection, but landscape and geometrical prints on suits, shorts and shoes are enough to make me take a closer look. Paired with neutral shades of gray, black and blue, they make up a statement made for the runway.

Flat-top hats and knee-length cropped soft pants remind me of Alice’s mad hatter, taking me to another place as other pieces bring me to another time. Shorts and knee-length socks, ruffled tops and buckles on shoes make the collection a wearable one, contrastingly allowing the runway into the streets.

black and white

What do you guys think of these new looks from StyleStalker?  When searching for an outfit, I always find myself reaching for black or white first. There's something about the no-fuss, lack of color that  can do no wrong. Which look is your favorite??
